Interns are required to participate in meetings, workshops, training
opportunities, fundraisers and other ARTS activities outside of their
assignments.

Job description: Individual artists and organizations are hired to provide classes in a variety of visual, performing and literary areas upon need of ARTS clients. We are always looking for new and innovative programs to help children and families express themselves. Artists are paid by the hour on an as-needed basis. Classes are conducted at the ARTS Center. Marketing/PR
Marketing/PR interns develop marketing and PR strategies for events,
programming, and visibility of the Pat D'Arrigo ARTS Center while working
closely with the marketing committee and board members in the PR and
Marketing field from Waste Management and ACME Design.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing the PR/Marketing plan of ARTS
- Maintain media database with up to date contact info
- Write Press Releases and contact media outlets
- Support board members and staff with marketing and PR projects and
updates
Special Events
Interns in the area of special events work with the Volunteer & Event
Coordinator, Development Director and Board to plan and coordinate major
fundraisers as well as smaller program-related events. This internship
also offers the chance to work alongside Board and committee members
form Pacific Event Productions, Classic Party Rental, and Scripps Institution
of Oceanography.
Responsibilities:
- Plan timelines and coordinate meetings
- Assist in the development and planning process of all events
- Contact vendors for donations
- Track items to be auctioned
- Set up, strike, and other aspects of actual working an event
Programs
Program interns facilitate programs at one or more of
ARTS partner sites including the Pat D'Arrigo ARTS Center, provide support
to ARTS staff during assigned office hours. Interns are required
to participate in meetings, workshops, training opportunities, fundraisers
and other ARTS activities outside of their assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and plan age appropriate art lessons/projects related to
the visual and performing arts, music, dance, etc.
- Create an atmosphere that encourages creative expression
- Responsible for set-up and break down of art supplies
- Maintain needed supplies on hand
- Evaluate and track programs and demographics
- Research and develop program concepts and ideas
- Be a positive role model to children facing adversity
- Communicate effectively with partner site staff and ARTS staff
- Arrive at sites prepared and on time
- Submit evaluations from each site session in a timely manner
- Fulfill any school related internship requirements to receive credit
- On-site and office work hours required by internship agreement each
week including assisting in various capacities, including planning
monthly volunteer trainings, special events, etc.
Office Administration
Office interns learn the behind scenes business of a non-profit by working
closely with staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain databases
- Provide assistance with mailings, letters and brochures
- Answer phones and provide information to public
- Provide support to staff with filing, materials, orders, etc.
